Our face-to-face sessions are fun, interactive and packed with opportunities to learn through play and exploration. Phonics Buddies supports children in meeting early literacy,  language and communication milestones as well as supporting ‘school readiness’ for pre-schoolers. Parents are given the tools to support their child’s literacy development from a Specialist Literacy Teacher, Antoinette Lindesay, who is also the founder of Literacy and Dyslexia Support (LDS), Local Authority teacher and Consultant.

Each 45-minute session is themed around a sound of the week with focus on sound and letter recognition and formation. Each week children will engage with activities to develop phonological awareness to support reading and spelling as well as fine motor skill development, to support handwriting. Story-telling, rhyming activities and other activities to support oral language development will also be integrated into sessions.

The range of activities provided offers children of all abilities age 2-5 a variety of learning opportunities to promote the development of early literacy and language skills. Each child will receive their own Phonics Buddies pack and progress tracker, which they will have access to during each session

COVID-19

Our sessions are subject to families remaining socially distanced. In line with Government guidelines masks are recommended, unless exempt, upon entry, exit and in all communal areas of the building, however they do not need to be worn during the sessions. Resources are thoroughly cleaned before and after each session, as well as hand gel being provided for hand sanitisation. All children should be accompanied by one adult only and will be socially distanced in their designated mat areas.  Please stay at home if you or your child show any symptoms or are generally unwell.
